Verse vs. Verse

Since we had so much Muldoon yesterday, I wanted to remind you all about Monday's literary battle of the heavyweights:

On April 16th at The Strand Bookstore, FSG's Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon will face off against Knopf's Brad Leithauser in a Quickmuse event to see who can create the best poem in front of an audience in only ten minutes.

After being given a theme, Muldoon and Leithauser will begin to compose, and their ensuing rough drafts will be projected--in real time!--onto screens for the audience to view while mingling and making use of the complimentary wine. When ten minutes have passed, both poets will read their final works to the audience and a winner will be declared.

WQXR's Jeff Spurgeon will host the event, and poet Eliza Griswold will open the event with a reading from her debut collection, Wideawake Field.

7 PM, Monday, April 16th, at The Strand Bookstore (828 Broadway @ 12th Street). BE THERE!
